Hiya my name is Gemma and i`m 39 weeks pregnant, I had sex with my OH last night and almost straight away i started getting contractions (at least i think they were, this is my 1st). I was having then all night about 10/15 mins apart, this morning they are still coming but not as strong, and I have had some bloody mucus (sorry spelling).

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, I dont want to phone MW incase this is normal, any advice would be greatfully appreciated,

Thanks x

Hi Gemma, Im Marie & pregnant with my 3rd baby! Personally I would say what you're experiencing could well be "real" contractions & the mucas that you noticed could be your "show" or "plug"! I would suggest you call your midwife & just see what she says! I had 2 shows before I had my son & I was having contractions on & off for a day or so - everyone is different! No question is too silly to ask a midwife & even if what you are going through is normal - its always good to get a professional opinion!

Best of luck & let us know how you get on! x

Ooh sounds like it could be early labour Gemma!  How exciting. Hope all is well and you have baby soon.  I'd call the midwife if you want a bit of reassurance and walk around to stop the contractions from slowing down.

im no longer pregnant my baby is now 3 months old but sex at the end of pregnancy can bring on labour infact most of the girls from the due july thread that were over due were told by there midwifes to have as much sex as possible to basicly induce themselfs so the chances are ur in labour hun,,, ooo how exciting,,, ur baby is classed as term from 37 weeks so everything has been ready for awhile now,,,

i wish u much luck

love zoe and little keris

I had 3 pregnancies and always babies have been overdue, i wish i could have sex but didn't felt sexy to commit myself in.

i think you are lucky, sperm contains a substance which can trigger labour at the end of the pregnancy, your cervix might have started to dilate, may be the labour will not be too long, that is a good sign, i would be worried if you were at the begining or half way, but your pregnancy is now at its term, lucky girl !

Best wishes

hi i agree with the rest, sex can bring on labour and i would call midwife they might ask you to go in and look at you but that way you will know for sure keep active cause that will make labour shorter if you have started

good luck and hope you and baby are well

Hello!

You're so lucky - would love to have sex to try and get things started but hubby's having none of it! Hope you've been in touch with your midwife and that all's well, fingers crossed you are in labour/have had your baby! I had my show last Tuesday night (my due date's this Thursday) but baby's not even engaed so looks like I've a while to wait. Let us know how you got on!

Hi Gemma, I was just wondering how you got on? Have you had your baby? Hope all is well - let us know when you get a spare minute or two ... if ever with a new baby!

Best wishes, Marie x
