Hello, My baby is due on 1st of October and I need someone to advise me for choosing the best pushchair for my baby. I want to use it from birth up to about 3 years and it need to be light in weight and mobile but I dont like Maclaren's. I want also to face my baby when is still small and I am wondering is a travel system the best option. My budget is quite limited so it need to be reasonable price too. I will appreciate any advice. Thank you

Hi Daniella,
I too am looking for a pushchair. Hopefully some people on here will be able to give you some first-hand advice, but i have found the catalogue 'mumsnet best', available at mothercare, really useful. It reviews all the best products on the market from pushchairs to breastpumps.

Hi both In our 'shopping' section, there's product info and reviews and buyer's guides to various essentials. However - I think you'll also find some good experience and advice coming through on here as our trusty members start to browse the forums!

probably the cheapest option for you would be the urban detor travel systems from mothercare, its fairly cheap and robust but does weigh a fair bit 17.2kg for the 3 wheeler version. when we were looking the bebecar range were amongst the lightest, but there not cheap. so i'd reccomend looking at the quinny range, the buzz and speedi sx in conjuction with the maxi cosi cabrio.

Thanks to everyone...Do you know is there something like a pram market or in which shop I can find the biggest range so I could try it. It is a lot information on the internet but It will be better if I can see what I am going to use a few years. Travel system is good option but 17 kg are lot. What do you think about Chico. Thank you

Mothercare and Toys 'R' Us seem to do a fairly large range.
Have just looked in the catalogue I mentioned earlier for you - Graco Aerosport travel system (£170) only weighs 7.5kg and it only needs one hand to collapse it. Mamas & Papas pramette is also lighter - 8.9kg and got a good review but is alot more expensive at £330. The Chicco CTO.1 Trio weighs 11kg and costs £400 but it does come with a carrycot too -again a good review.
I'm currently liking the mothercare urban detour xtreme (three wheeler travel system) at £299.00, weighing 14kg - does anyone have this themselves? Is this the one you mean Luke?

we used to have the urban detour with our little boy its heavy and fairly bulky, the weight of 17.2kg was taken off the mothercare website. your best bet would be to play with them in the shop before buying, see if it packs down small enough and see if you can lift it easily, also little things like will it fit in the car boot. also the weight of the baby carrier is worth consdiering, weve got a mamas and papas which is fairly lightweight and now the little ones getting a lump the weight saving comes in to its own.

Hi, A couple of good websites for you - www.kiddicare.com www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk www.babys-mart.co.uk Or, of course, there's always eBay!
You might find the brand, model, etc that you fancy and then see if you can find it in a local shop for a test-drive.

I would also recommend Kiddiecare.com for all your needs as they are cheaper than anywhere else and have free delivery. I have a Mamas and Papas Pilko pramette, which you can attach the M&P Carseat to so baby faces you, also the pushchair/pramette bit changes to face Mum (when baby is small) and faces forward when baby gets bigger. Not cheap at 300 quid but I love it and my son seems really comfy in it. Its lighter than a lot of the other buggies, around 8kg, so consider this option as if you are petite like me, or have a lot of steps to deal with, a heavy one should not be considered as you will struggle big time. I recently bought a McLaren stroller for holidays, but that now stays in the car boot for quick trips, as I do still prefer the comfort and shopping space of the Pilko Pramette. Plus it lays back almost flat so nap times are not missed!

Hi, did anyone knows about Chicco CT 0.1 Trio Travel System. I am cosidering this one plus Lola, Zooper or Pilko Pramette. It should be not only light and easy to push and fold but with option for rare facing too and to lie flat. I would like to face my baby when it is still small

 |
The Pilko Pramette faces Mum when laying in the "pram" option, up to around a few months in age/until sitting up a bit. When in the buggy position it faces forward, but hasa 4 position recline. If you buy the car seat, this attaches using the "anchors" attached to the buggy frame, and faces Mum. Although pricey, I like the pilko pramette's style and look and the position options. I am only 5 foot 3 and 8 stone and I dont struggle with this one. Hope this helps...your local supplier should be happy to give you a demo.

 Hi,
My little girl is 9 weeks old and I have the urban detour deluxe from mothercare (3 wheeler travel system) It is very heavy to lift in and out of the boot of my car and it also takes up the WHOLE boot. I don't like having her in her car seat for too long either so don't really put the car seat onto the pram I just lay her down in the pram, she can be fastened in and I've been doing this since she was 3 weeks old...the major downside to it tho is you aren't facing the baby unless you put the car seat on. I wish I'd bought a pram which she could lie down properly in, especially in this weather it's far too hot for them to be couped up in na car seat!
Boots also do some reasonable pushchairs which are suitable from birth, I bought the boots own pushchair last week for £64 in the sale and it came with a raincover, footmuff ands head hugger. I use this when I go shopping because the pram is very big and can cause disruption in the shops...she is very comfortable in it and she sometimes naps sin the house in it because she likes it so much!
Hope this helps.
Rachel.

Hi Rachel, Thanks for your comments. I think I will steer clear of the urban detour now as the weight & space will no doubt be an issue. Do you feel that the travel system was false economy, seeing as your unhappy with using the car seat onto the pram? I'm starting to think that i might be better off getting a separate pushchair and car seat after all! Glad I've still got three months to go - it's going to take me that long to reach a decision!!

Hi Sarah,
I agree that the baby should not be in the car seat for any length of time, but if (worst case scenario) your baby will not sleep, but then falls asleep in the car on the way to the shops for example, you dont have to disturb it when taking it out of the car, and can put him/her straight onto the frame of the buggy (if you have this facility. My friend also had a Mothercare 3 wheeler and found it much too heavy and awkward. She then went on to get a Pilko Pramette in the sale for 200 pounds. S

I understand what your saying Sue, luckily for me Imogen will wake up briefly whilst being transferred to bher pushchair but then drops back off to sleep almost instantly.

I love my Loola travel system, for good deals try Glasgow pram centre or Kiddicare. They offer free delivery, so no lugging pram about whilst you are pregnant. Excellent deals on e-bay too which is where I got mine it was a demo in a shop diplay. The car seat I bought brand new.

Hi I've just been reading your threads and I have bought the Britax Cinnamon off of kiddicare.co.uk and it was only £59 in the sale and its light well made and sturdy and nice colours (important girly aspect) Freddi is due at end of Sept and it will be turning cooler then and being realistic I too didn't want to have him in a car seat so this time I opted for buying a good car seat that was from newborn and and a buggy. I looked at the urban detour and fell in love with it too but after having 2 sister in laws with them and they were both exchanged for buggies shortly after, all the above is true they are very bulky and wide and so not easy for getting in and out of the car if you've got a crying baby on your heals!!! Read the write ups on the Britax one, as they speak for themselves. Having bought many prams in the past and their being a 12 yr gap this time I knew I had to be realistic this time and I was going to need it more in and out of the car Hope this helps but have to say really impressed with kiddicare as the delivery was even free and it came with in 2 days they get my vote Vicky and Freddie bump

Hi, I've been just offered Silver Cross as alternative to Pliko Pramette. They are both suitable from birth, lie flat facing the mother and then easy to convert into pushchair. They are not very heavy too but I am still thinking about Chicco CT 0.1. I'll apreciate if you have experience with Chicco and want to share your opinion? It is difficult to find any reviews about this system. I still have to months ahead but I am really concerned with choising a pram. mum to be Daniella
|
 |
How are you getting on with choosing a pushchair Daniella? I don't know much about the Chicco - mumsnet have a short review on their website. Have you tried doing an internet search?
I keep going round in circles and changing my mind but I think it's coming down to a decision between the Pliko Pramette and the Silver Cross alternative. It's actually more pricey than I was planning, but my mum and dad have offered to pay for it and they think these are the best options. Had a demo at a local independant shop and was really impressed with both.
