my husband and i are planning to have a baby in the nr future. I read about the rubella vaccine and that innoculation should have been given at school. i wasn't sure so i phoned doctors and they said its not on my records so i had my blood tested. im just glad that i had this checked. i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
Hi Ali These days it is unusual that you haven't had the rubella vaccine as it has been routinely given to girls at puberty for many years. However, for anyone who is trying for a baby, it's very worthwhile getting things like this checked out, to ensure you either have the antibodies from the illness or the vaccine in your system. Once you are pregnant, it is not advisable to have vaccines of most kinds. Good luck Ali!
after six weeks of waiting to find out my blood test result it appears that i've already had the rubella vaccine, it just wasn't on my records. i thought they were never going to find out as this was the fifth time i had phoned the doctors. so now at least i can relax and see what happens!!!
