Hi. Im Carine and im 7 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child but 5th pregnancy. My 2 kids are 10 ad 7 so quite an age gap. I had a miscarriage years ago before my eldest and another just a few months ago. So fingers crossed this time all will be ok. Im 38 and a size 24 so im very worried about putting on weight and the problems it can cause. Anyone else out there overweight before they even start.

Hi Carine and Rachael.

I'm 22 and this is my first pregnancy and I am 10 stone 6lb so I am slightly overweight.  I'm now four months gone and weigh the same so just watch what you eat like I have been doing.  There is no need to eat for two - you just need to eat the right stuff.

What you have to remember is that any baby weight you gain, you will have to loose at the end of the pregnancy and it will be very difficult caring for a newborn if you do put on weight throughout the pregnancy.

Carine - sorry about your miscarriages.  It must be so difficult to deal with.  I hope this one goes well which I am sure it will.  Just watch your weight.  I don't think that it will affect the baby whilst it is in gestation but just eat the right things and you will be sure not to gain any more.  Remember, it is not goo to diet whilst you are pregnant!!

hi carine

im not preggers at the mo but hope to be soon, i just wanted to let you know that when i got pregnant with my son i weighed over 17 stone and my bmi was 43, which put me in the high risk category from day one. i then got gestational diabetes and was told to gut out sugar which was hard. i felt really crap about myself but was determined to avoid the insulin so i really altered my diet, and by the time i was 6 weeks post natal i had lost 4 stone. didnt even try. i breastfed my son, changed my diet and that made a whole load of difference. i had an emergency section with my son so didnt do any excercise at all for a long time. i have put about a stone and a half back on in the last 2 years though lol, but really try not to worry, its easy to just go mad but the thought of my little one having blood sugar problems cos of me was enough motivation to give up the cakes lol. just try your best
