i beleive that there is no ideal age. every age has its pitfalls and advantages. 30 is a good age but providing you are happy and healthy and can provide a loving safe home for a baby any age is good

Well im 21 and 13 weeks. Ideally i would have liked to have been a little older, maybe 26/27 simply because i hav only just finished my degree (things happen for a reason tho!), however i feel that as i am young i have age on my side and so at lower risk from certain dangers. To be honest as long as you are happy and healthy and truly want your baby for the right reasons (and not because you cant be botherd to get a job/youll get a free council house!lol!) then any age is good. As a teacher i have met some fantastic young mums who are full of energy and produce wonderful children and some older mums who produce spoilt brats and vice Versa, at the end of the day its all personal preference and circumstance. I have my own house with my long term partner who has a very good job and were due to marry in July (postponed now obv!!) so my personal circumstances are very favourable to bring a child into. Some of my frinds thought i was mad, they're all wanting to go off travelling and see the world and have there careers, and theres certainly no saying that i wont do that myself, ill just do it the other way round, have my babies first and then career/travel when we're older and it'll be even more excitong because i can share it with my fantastic partner (hopefully husband before then!)

wow, you sound very similar to me. had baby little older at 24 and was due to get married and had to postpone it. but all worked out in the end. now married, have a lush baby and hubby and very happy. 26 now and still loveing it. can do travelling and things when the kids fly the nest.

I GOT MARRIED LAST YEAR, MY HUSBAND AND I MET LATER IN LIFE, I AM 42 HE IS 45. NEITHER OF US HAVE CHILDREN FROM PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIPS. DO YOU THINK WE ARE TOO LD TO CONSIDER A BABY? i AM WORRIED ABOUT THE RISKS OF BEING AN OLD FIRST TIME MUM.

hi claire, i am 39 years old and have just had baby no 8,a lot more mums in the hospital are older these days and i know that the best age to give birth is when you are younger but i have lots of friends in their late 30s who have babies, and know some who are 40+.

if you and your husband feel like you want to try for a baby then go for it,i didnt have any tests and have a perfectly healthy 14 week old baby.

good luck to you if you decide to try for a baby.

take care

if you wanna go for it..... GO FOR IT!!!! as long as you look after yourself and get advice from a dr, if you are both in good health and want a baby, just do it. unfortunatly you havn't got as much time as most to think about it and decide if you are financially secure enougth etc. so if you chat about it and decide you both want the same then go for it and good luck xxx
