Weight loss after birth

I don't own a pair of scales so I can't tell how much I actually weigh, but I have gone down from my usual size of around a size 10 to around a size 6 (my size 8 clothes that were tight are now really loose and I can't even wear any of my size 10's) since giving birth.

My family are commenting on how I'm too thin... am I eating properly etc. I eat constantly and although I do eat healthily and I'm veggie, I don't say no to chocolate etc. and pretty much eat what I feel like. I'm breastfeeding and my baby is five months old.

I feel fine, but I do think my weight is too low for me - I was perfectly happy at a size 10 and feel unattractively skinny now.

Has anyone else found that they lost alot of weight after they gave birth? I have mentioned it to the doctor but they didn't really seem interested... she was slightly overweight so maybe she was just jelous ;-)

Havnt given birth yet, so cant speak from personal experience, but have read breastfeeding helps you lose weight quicker. Although you eat a lot, the calories you burn feeding and caring for your baby dont seem to be being replaced.
Glad you feel well, but do think your weight is low. Until your weight is back to usual try higher fat versions of products (eg drink whole milk instead of skimmed), or snack betwwen meals if you dont now. (Even fruit, eg mango, can be quite high in calories)

Doctor is recommending that i give up breastfeeding :-(

Am going to ignore her - I'm not ready and Krishan has started rejecting his evening bottle and just wants me instead, so he clearly isn't ready! I'm hoping that as his solid intake increases his milk intake will drop?

I eat loads anyway (the fact my partner is now overweight is testament to that ;-)) but yes, I've switched to full fat milk and i'm trying to snack even more than I already do. If i get desperate I'll just have to start scoffing cream cakes... anything to keep breastfeeding!

You don't say how tall you are?  If you look the right proportions I would not worry too much - I think that people sometimes think you should be a certain weight after childbirth

Sometimes breast feeding can increase your metabolism. If this was me I would start weaning as soon as possible. The chances are you will slowly regain the weight you have lost and feel a difference in your self.

 Best wishes.

I would like to suggest very light dieting while feeding your baby. And do not take any diet pills!
