hi all, do we have an updataed list of who had what and details??
i had baby joe on 23rd august. had a bit of a difficult birth and afterwards, but it was all soooo worth it. joe lost 15% of his birth weight. he weighed 8lb 8oz at birth and went down to 7lb 4oz at 6 days old. he is slowly regaining his weight though!! he is such a gud baby, we are almost sleeping right through the night!! i am breastfeeding, it is difficult, but sooooo worth it, i love it!! although my partner is feeling really left out!! soon i will start to express so he can feed joe!!
my labour started on the monday night, pains all through the night, i didnt know what to do i had to get on all fours and try to breathe through the pains, this lated untill thursday morning, when my waters finally broke, i was advised to go to the hospital so off we went. i had been low dependancy all throughout my pregnancy, but when we arrived at the hospital, my BP was very high, so i had to be high dependancy, which meant a very clinical room and i was stuck on a bed because baby had to be monitored!!! i also needed a syntocinon drip to encourage more painful contractions!!
after hours of pain and coping well on gas and air, the pain finaly got too much for me, i was screaming for the midwife to stop touching me and begging her not to do another internal!!! i had reached 7cm and everything had to be done twice because there was a student midwife in with us. i was so uncomfortable and acting way out of order!!! i was begging for pethadine, which i got, nearly an hour later!!!!! that just didnt work what so ever!!!! so the midwife was trying to convince me to have and epidural, but i really didnt want one!! but in the end i was convinced, as i couldnt even pass urine, i was sooo desperate for a wee and i just couldnt go!!!
a little while later the anaethatist arrived and gave me my epidural, after 4 attempts he got it...............i could have kissed him, my pain dissapeared!! it was fantastic, soon after, the midwife did another internal and i was 10 cm and she asked me if i would like to start pushing. it was very bizzare, i was pushing, but didnt have the urge!! before i knew it doctors were arriving in the room along with other midwifes. my babys heartbeat had been dropping, so they performed a vontousse but then something else happened and the performed an episiotomy, he was delivered straight onto me and we were overwhelmed that he was ok. i then lost over 500ml of blood. so then the room was full of people mopping the floor and stiching me up and checking out baby!!! it was all very surreal!!! i didnt get my skin to skin contact for a couple of hours and my partner didnt get to cut the cord!! very uncomfortable for a week or two, because i then developed a bad infection, i was on more tablets/injections then a pharmacy could supply!!!
anyway, after 17 hours (and a few days of pains beforehand) of labour we had a beautiful baby boy who is amazing!!!
anyone else breastfeeding?? i am a health professional and i went on a 2 day course (couple of years ago) to help mums breast feed, and i still was unsure of so many things, so much support is needed for breastfeeding mums!!!
hope everyone else is well, take care all mums bumps and babies
luv becky and joe
