Labour (ouch)

Hello all -

I've just joined this forum.  I'm due 7th Feb 08 and getting really nervous about the labour (this is my first).  My husbands cousin has been in labour for 3 days now (we think) is this possible? 

Am so scared

Hi Laurie,

Some women are in labour for longer than others. The average time to be in labour is down to the individual. Some will give birth in 3 hours others 7 hours or longer. I was induced after being two weeks overdue. I had to be given gel to start contractions. I got Epidural four hours before I gave birth and it was very effective. The best thing to do is read up on all the options on pain relief so you know what to ask for. Knowledge is power. If you have any questions just ask 

I was in labour for 25 hours after being induced and was pushing for 8 hours straight!

Suzie: its so funny that you have said Knowledge is power as I was visited by a friend today who is also a Doula who said exactly the same thing!!!!

I asked her the same question about how long labour can last and she explained the difference between labour and established labour... that was very helpful

I'm feeling much more confident about the whole thing now

Well, my due date is tomorrow!!!! this does not seem real

Last night I went to bed and thought- is tonight gonna be the night?

Glad not though as my Husband was working overnight and so was my mum!!!!

Cannot wait to meet my baby -

We dont know if its a boy or a girl but I feel like its a boy.....

By the way I started off as Laurie Mayor but now use the nickname Yummymummy coz thats what I want to be!!!!!
