Membrane sweep!!

Weel, i'm 40 + 6 today, with baby number 2, my first dd was a week early so this going over is all new  for me!!!

I'm having a sweep tonight at 6.30 pm, and havin g been through a drugfree easy labour and lost all dignity as daft as it sounds im REALLY worried about the sweep!!!

 Has anyone had one that has been succesful?? Would really like some reassurance!!

If the sweep doesnt work then i may end upp being induced which will be at the main hospital half hour away instead of at the midwife led unit 2 minutes away!!!

Someone please reassure me there is a good chance it will work!!!

Yu've probably already been through the sweep and i hope that it wasn't too unconfortable and actually worked!  Fingers x you are in labour tonight.

I am not a big believer in sweeps although i know lots of people that have had them and gone into labour very soon afterwards.  With my 1st he was a week late and no amount of sweeps hurried it up, he came when he was ready.

With no 2 he was 1 week early but i was trying everything i could to induce him!!  I went for a gentle jog, had sex and within 3 hours i was in labour!!

Your little one will turn up soon, get eating pineapple, long walks and bounncing on that ball!

I think it is like most things, if baby is ready it will work, if baby isn't then it won't!

I had one and it didn't do anything, I had one at 40+6 and went into labour naturally at 41+3.  My friend on the other hand had one at 40+5 then phoned me to say nothing was going to happen and it was useless and 24 hrs later she had had baby!

I hope it wasn't too uncomfy and it works for you, after mine my mw told me to go home and have sex, a curry and a walk, lol!

You don't have to accept an induction if you really don't want it, they will just moniter the baby to make sure all is ok.
