i am 5 weeks pregnant, just confirmed with my doc today.. so excited as we have been trying for over a year.  i too have had some slight cramping.. just like a period pain.. it worries me a bit but reading all hese comments help me fell reassured.  The docotor said my bloodpreussure was excellent and the sickness andsore boobs and tirdness were all okay.  Just signs of pregancy.

Omg you do not know how relieved I am that I am not the only person with mild cramping! My doctor told me that its not normal! I too have sore boobs which I've never ever had before! Am 4 weeks 5 days today. (only found out lastnight and was on the pill!)

 Congrats to all of you!

Hi Julz,

Dont worry I got no joy out of my doctors at all to begin with and I had mild cramps and what i can only describe as pain at times and none of them would ever say anything positive, however after a few weeks it all subsided and now the pains, aches, cramps, blood have all gone away and I feel completely normal and my baby is fine. I found it was actually my midwife who I met at approx 12wks that was excellent she put my mind at rest totally its just a shame you dont see them from the start. My boobs do ache now and then but thats about it and my stomach has shrunk if i eat too much boy do I know about it. But other than that try not to worry however I know exactly where your coming from. The weeks leading up to see the midwife were probably the scariest un-nerving weeks of my life to date.

Hey! Yeah I am a bit.... well, Petrified at the moment. Found out last night, which resulted in only 5hours sleep and an early trip to the docs thismorning, i think it's only just sinking in. Was shaking so much last night! lol. Will be our first. Yay. I'm concidering telling one of my sisters who is a nurse, atleast then I'll have some medical advice!! I know you shouldn't really before 3 months but I need to tell someone x

Ah honestly I was the same. I was petrified when I found out. I found out about the same time as you and when I was about 8 weeks my man decided to start telling people so by 10 weeks everybody knew friends and family as I felt bad that friends new and family didnt. But then that made me more nervous as I wasnt out of the danger period. So I was relieved when I got to 12wks and things were ok. But honestly I dont think it will be a bad thing if you tell your sister. This is my first baby too. Im 16 weeks next monday. Honestly I didnt sleep properly for a while but its only natural I had loads of mixed emotions and my hormones the first 12 weeks were all over the place. Crying and snapping at everybody. Ha! I felt like I was a monster but could'nt stop myself. I had implantation bleeding at 6 till about 8 weeks and that was scary. But now its all stopped and I feel absolutely fine, sounds stupid but now I dont even feel pregnant apart from my bump x

I just realised WHY I cried my eyes out for no reason the other day, I cried for like 15mins then the word was restored to order again. lol That was before I found out. It does explain the strangeness off my mood the last week or so hehe. I think at 10weeks I will start telling people. The doc said 6-8 weeks is the main time for things to go wrong. I should really wait until 3months but I dont think that will EVER happen! lol I'm finding it hard to keep in! I'm actually going for a nap in a min cos the lack of sleep has properly worn me out, which isn't normal. Was planning on cleaning the house but just can't seem to do it today! Glad all is well with you x

Honestly for the first 12wks you will feel knackered and be extremely careful when cleaning the house dont go lifting the hoover or anything heavy, its not worth it. Leave the cleaning, I had to for ages I just didnt have the energy. Its weird Id get to about 2pm in the afternoon at work and just need my bed but honest it gets better. As for my moods I was absolutely evil but honest all of a sudden it will all dissapear and you will feel normal again. I have hot sweats now to deal with Ha! The joys hey!! Enjoy your nap! x

Just broke that to the OH, Wonder how he'll handle the domestic duties! lol. I might be starting a new job next week and dont know what to do now! it's in an office but temp for 3months, then maybe permanent! If they find out in the 3 months they probably wont take me on !?!?!? Oh so annoying... x

Our situations are really alike. Spooky! The week i found out I was pregnant I got an interview for an office job. I went to the interview and got through it and at the end told them. I said it was early days but that I wanted to be upfront and honest with them and that I was pregnant. Then I couldnt believe I had a call a week later and they offered me the position. I start on the 15th Oct. I was shocked but honest they have been brilliant and accept that I will be going on maternity leave. They must have just appreciated the honestly. You should be upfront with them because they will respect you for that more. It doesnt seem to be such an issue in this day and age companys seem to accept it. Ha!! You make him clean! Im loving every minute of being pregnant now, I do all the dusting and stuff like that but my OH has to do all the hoovering and has to come shopping with me because I can not possibly risk carrying any heavy bags Ha!!! I say make the most of it!! x

My cramping is now only very occassional i haven had any at all today and only had one cramp yesterday, it def eases off. I cant fit in any of my trouser i have had to go out any buy more! is it norm not to have morn sickness?

Hi Laura,

Im nearly 16wks and I have had no sickness whatsoever! and Ive had scan and my babys fine. I had the bleeding about the same time as you however this seemed to be implantation bleeding and has caused no problem whatsoever I had it for a fortnight on and off and sometimes it was heavier than others but just relax as much as you can. Mine stopped eventually, made me panic at the time. But everything is fine now. My midwife said implantation bleeding around the 6 wk mark can be common.

My job interview got cancelled for some reason. I'm actually quite happy about that, although I did really want the job! It has given a bit more time to get used to things since I only found out a few days ago, and was getting quite stressed with interview looming!

Does anyone wait until the recommended 12weeks before they start telling people. Am only 5 but going to tell OH's mum today for various reasons. (One of them being that OH's brother just got his evil GF preggers, which is really bad news for his mum! So we want to get in there first and have a few weeks of them being happy about it before he breaks the news too and sets a bad mood!) Sorry to ramble but running on low energy as lacking sleep! lol.

Still having dull aches and wondering whether I am imagining this! I really hope I am as lucky as you Deborah with the lack of morning sickness!!! Good to see your baby is well!

Hi all,

I've recently found out I was pregnant by doing a home pregnancy test - I wasn't fully convinced so went to the doctors to confirm, however, the doctor said as I had a positive result there was no need for him to do a test and referred me straight on to the relevant persons. I have since done another 4 tests all of which have been positive - I am feeling very nausious and am experiencing slight cramp like pains in my stomach - can anyone tell me if the pains are normal as they are slightly worrying?

Look forward to a response.

Hi all,

I think its hard to say when the right time is to tell people. I mean my OH told everyone at 6 weeks or so round about then and I could have killed him and luckily everything has been fine. But I did feel that people knowing that early on put extra pressure and more worry on to me. I think personally if I ever do this all again I would wait untill I have my first scan and then I would make the big announcement.

I've decided now that we are going to wait until the first scan, after all, stories are always better with pictures!!! Lol!! We told my OH's mum and she screamed for a while before giving me a million hugs! lmao. I wanted to tell her so she can be present at the first scans etc etc. My mum's done it all 4 times before with my nephew/nieces so she won't mind hehe.

Ah Julz I think you have done the right thing. The weeks will fly by anyway so it wont be long till you can tell everybody.

I hope it goes fast! I want a scan now so I can show everyone my Ricebaby!! (That's it's nickname as it's probably about the size of rice now lol) x
09/10/2007 at 11:00
Ha! Ah thats cute! However I tell you the scan blew me away I cannot believe how much like a fully formed baby mine was at the 12wk scan and the picture is brill! Mine is a cross between a pear and something slightly larger now I think. I have my 20wk scan in just under 4 weeks, so excited.
09/10/2007 at 11:35
Oh that's so cool! My OH's mum is coming with us to our first scan, I'm so excited even though not even had first midwife app yet!! lol x
09/10/2007 at 13:26
Ah that will be nice. Just myself and OH went to scan as its my mums first granchild and my OH 3rd grandchild, however if she was to find out my mum had come with me and not her there would have been uproar, so I found it best for us 2 to go and then purchased 3 scan photos. 1, for mum, 1 for his mum and 1 for us and then I photocopied one for my nan. Your midwife appt will come soon enough I was 12wks when i first met mine. I saw her on the Tues and can was on the Thurs.
