How to hide it from work!

Just found out I'm 5 weeks this week and this is our first. Am without symptoms as yet, not even sore boobs, just tired!!! I wonder when nausea normally sets in? I know it's different for anyone but it all seems so unreal without it! (I'll be regretting that statement very soon maybe!)
I'm also really concerned as to how to hide this from work. My job is insanely busy at the moment and I'm not sure how to cope. Even just the tiredness is enough! Any ideas? Also I think my boss is going to react badly as she's a bit of an iron lady...I'm scared! Anyone else in a similar position? x x x Jo

hi joanne,

congratulations on your preg! im 10 weeks today. some women find they get the sore bbs at around wk 5 or so, you may find they get bigger without the soreness like myself.
i found that the nausea started at about week 6 and it was quite persist for about two weeks or so, key is to small meals regularly. nausea can get worse especially if you havent eaten for an hour or so. you may find the smell of foods you usually eat all the time will make you feel sick.
as its your 1st you should be able to hide your preg until about roughly week 15/16 or so depending on your figure, slimmer girls tend to show quicker.
best thing to do is try to relax as much as poss and let everyone else do everything for you as you have a perfectly good excuse!

i found my nausea started about week 7 and i had hideous acid/indegestion. I made sure that i went out for a walk/look round local supermarket at lunch time in order to get some fresh air - otherwise i would have fallen asleep by 2pm! It really did the trick and helped me thru the afternoon. In addition to this i also made sure i had plenty of chewing gum, ant-acids etc in my handbag so i did not have to make a big deal of asking if anyon else had any. Failing that - if you do feel very rough, then you may have to ring in sick for a couple of days until you feel 'safe' to tell your boss
Good luck - and remember - not everyone gets morning sickness! x

I had really sore boobs for about 2 and a half weeks before i found out i was pregnant(4 and a half weeks), so id say the soreness started almost from conception!
I was like you, wondering when the sickness would hit! Then I totally regretted wanting the sickness! I think it started at around week 6/7 for me and peaked over the next 2 weeks or so but it seems to have calmed down now im 10 weeks, although I know how to cope with it more now! Eating little and often really helps.
With my first pregnancy, i started being sick around week 7 and was sick every day without fail until i was 12 weeks, and then it suddenly stopped! Although, Twinny is right - not all women get the sickness and some get it through their entire pregnancy!

I am already showing a slight bump at ten weeks now, but with my first pregnancy I'm sure i didnt start showing until about 16 weeks. So you may get away with it for a bit longer!

As for telling your boss, i cant help you with that! But good luck anyways, hopefully she will be more understanding than you think. She cant stop you from going to your appts or anything anyway as it is against the law, but make sure you know your rights before you tell her, so you know what you are entitled to, it may make you feel a bit happier about telling her!

Thank you! I guess I'm mostly concerned about being able to perform well while possibly running to the bathroom all the time! I'm going to have to end my contract early and don't expect a good reaction there. Oh well! This will be much more exciting!!! Thankyou for your advice! x x Jo
