Eczema in children is fairly common, especially the one which they call "atopic dermatitis" or infantile eczema. The rashes associated with this eczema appear dry and scaly and are highly uncomfortable. Since toddlers and children with eczema of any age do not fully understand their condition, parents are the ones responsible for managing their children's eczema.
Primarily, eczema can be managed by seeking treatments. A lot of parents often struggle to find the right treatment for their child. Aside from seeking treatments, the following ways can be done to manage a toddler's eczema:
>>> BATHING <<<
1. Give your toddler a quick bath in lukewarm water to prevent the skin from drying. Dry skin is more prone to irritation.
2. Use soaps that are mild and hypoallergenic. It would be a plus if soaps like these have moisturizers.
3. When bathing, don't rub the soap directly on your child's skin. Lather your hands with soap first then just pat your soaped hands on his body to soap him up. Friction will only further irritate his rashes.
4. Dry your kid in a cotton towel. Don't rub the towel on his skin either. Instead, pat him dry.
>>> CLOTHING <<<
1. Clothe your toddler only in clothes made of cotton. Cotton absorbs sweat and prevents sweat accumulation on the skin. Cotton is also soft and doesn't cause that much friction on the skin compared to synthetic cloth.
>>> SKIN CARE <<<
1. Apply moisturizers on your toddler's skin after bathing. These moisturizers should be mild and hypoallergenic like the soaps you'll be using on them when bathing them.
