hi claire,

I thought u might of been doing that with your cycle, its best to do it that way to avoid early disapointment, but i'v still got my fingers crossed for u thus month.

We are trying to get healthy in my house hold, dont know if i'v already mentioned we have an 11yr old boy (my step child) been making smoothies with allsorts of crap in, i'v found a really nice one for my Goji berries: its strawberries, goji berries, milk and ice cream its yummy.

So how are you doing?
Where abouts do you live?
Have you tried Goji berries yet?

Hi Jane,

Thought it easier to start a new thread as other one getting too long.

We been making smoothies also since I watched that programme on BBC 2. They did a survey on 5 men over 6 months & found drinking smoothies improved the quality of their sperm.

Got myself confused with my dates this month, but rather stay confused than know for sure. This way i won`t get my hopes up too soon. I keep saying to myself "I am due on on the 10th (my nethews birthday)", but I do know in my mind it sooner than that. I am avoiding looking at calenders (we have 3 in our house, plus my diary), because if I look at one I probably work out my correct period due on date. I always know the date I am due on so this is really hard for me.

When I come on my next period I will go and buy some Goji Berries.

Do you live near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne? If you don`t you probably won`t of heard of where I live, but it is not far from there.

Hope you don`t mind but I just posted a thread about Goji Berries so it may help anyone else trying. I thought you might like to add to the thread. I did not take credit for it, I said you told me.

Hi Jane,

Well started my peroid about 4pm today. When I worked it out it has been exactly 28 days so at least I did not go over that this month. I had to knock of my neighbour as with saying to myself I was due on on the 10th,I had only one sanitary towel till shops open tomorrow. Normally I feel down when my P appears but cause I made my month longer I am not letting it get to me this month.

I live at Wallsend & yes there is a Co-op here. How will you know the place cause it has a Co-op? I grew up in Northumberland but in 1994 my parents moved to N.Yorkshire. I moved back up here in 2000, the same year I met my hubby.

Think I will go to Newcastle Tues to buy some Goji Berries, at Holland & Barrett.

I usually make smoothies up as I go along. I usually buy reduced fruit from the Co-op as softer to blend & still lasts a few days. We put natural yoghurt & sometimes honey in ours. I just got some melons reduced to 37p to make smoothies with, probably try it with yoghurt, apples & banannas.

My sister-in-law has been really helpful she printed 4 sheets of the internet on how to get preg for me. She is hoping I will fall preg soon so we can be preg together, she has more hope than me.

One thing it said was to try & have sex before you ovulate, as opposed to the day it happens: An egg survives for only 12-24 hours after ovulation, so if you begin to ovulate in the morning & wait until the night time to have sex, the egg may loose it`s viability by the time the sperm gets to it.

It also says, don`t use commercial lubricants (like K-Y jelly) & anything with soap in your cervical canal during or immediately after sex as it has the potential to kill the sperm. While soap won`t kill all sperm, if you shower after sex, don`t use it in the vaginal area.

It also says, Sex every day is the ideal. Statistically, your chances are better if you engage in daily sex than if you settle into an every-other-day pattern. But the odds aren`t that much better - 0.37 versus 0.33. So you needn`t feel pressured to perform every night.

It goes on & on, I did say it was 4 pages long, that is only part of it.

Have you changed your name on this site also? I did not realise when I joined it was going to show my full name. I rather just show my first name or nickname.

Hi claire,

Sorry to hear you got ur period, at least it sort of came early then u expected..save you from that dreaded wait.

I work for the co-op in the transport logistics department just near where i live ( basically i organise deliveries all over the north east), and we deliver to wallsend, i dont know it personally but i know where it is.
yer i'v changed my name just a bit didnt like the idea of my full name being on it.

I'v just had a look in tesco's they do sell Goji berries for £8 but its for 225g so its about the same price as everywhere else.
Wot else does it say in the 4 page thing you have?

Did you know sperm lives for 2-5 days? i only thought it lived for about 3!!!

since we have been talking on this site, im no longer doing everybodies head in talking babies all the time really glad to have you to talk to and moan to at least you know exactly wot i mean and feel, its nice to talk.

Hi Jane

I went to Tesco in Gateshead today but I could not find them anywhere. I looked next to their dried fruit etc.

Holland & Barrett sell Goji Berry Jucie £1-69 for a small bottle,I didn`t get any though.

Whilst in Holland & Barrett the staff recommended 3 things that may help us concieve. I bought Agnus Castus 200 capsules for under £6 & Natural Amino 1000 for under £3, for 100 tablets. We both have to take the Natural Amino 1000, it is supposed to build new cells. There was another thing they recommended (forgot what it was called) it was supposed to be £15 but it was half price. I only went in for Goji Berries, I wasn`t planning on buying anything else. All the offers end thursday.

More info from my "4 page thing":

A new palm-size, electronic device called Clearplan Easy measures LH & estrogen levels, & can signal ovulation up to 5 days in advance.

Pregnancy Preventers
Having frequent sex or knowing when you ovulate won`t help if one of the following is working against you or your partner: A Bacterial Vaginal Infection, which may have no symptoms, creates a hostile environment that can kill sperm. To rule out infection talk to your Doctor about having a cervical culture before you try to concieve. Your partner should be tested for testicular infections. Herbstaking large doses of St John`s Wart, echinacea purpura, or ginko biloba over long periods may damage sperm, according to a recent report. As for the daily pressures we encounter at home & work, fertility experts suggest finding ways to channel stress- such as through regular exercise & good nutrition. Smoking the toxins in smoke can lower sperm count or make sperm sluggish.

Well think that covers most of my "4 page thing".

Glad to hear it is helping you to talk to me, it helps me also to talk to you.

hi claire,

Interesting!!!!

So have you tryed the Goji berries yet?.......wot do u think of them?
I havnt heard of that Natural Amino stuff, might invest in some, i have read up on that angus castus stuff and didnt really like the right up, even though a few people have mentioned it all i can find on it really is that its good for the menopause.
that Clearplan Easy sounds useful, wonder if it works!!

I must give up smoking, even though i know everyone says its no good for you when your trying to concieve, but i think it dosnt make any difference smoke or not, my mam smoked though 3 pregnancies and non off us have got asthma or nout, we wernt premature, but with her 1st pregnancy she gave up and my older sister has asthma, scorisis, and some other skin condition i cant spell, so im not giving up until i see them 2 small blue lines, i dont smoke that many under 10 a day.
Hows ur sis-in-law doing?

Hi Jane,

I tried a few Goji Berries as they were today & they did not really appeal to me. They got stuck in my teeth & I could taste them for ages afterwards. Think I will have to put them in my smoothie instead.

I email a few of the sites that sell Agnus Castus to ask about it. All I did was go onto a few sites, clicked on the "contact us" section & emailed them.

I got a reply off naturesbest.co.uk today. This is what they said:
"The herb Agnus Castus stimulates the pituitary gland & is useful for woman to help normalise their hormone levels & can be used by ladies of menstruating age or during the menopause.
I suggest both you & your husband take a good multi-vitamin such as Multi Guard combined with a fish oil capsule a day to ensure your body is recieving all the nutrients it needs.
If you would like to recieve our Pre-conception & Pregnancy Information Pack please forward your full postal address."

It might be worth while you going on their site & emailing them also, so you can recieve their info pack.

Have you ever been on the baby centre site? In the forum on that site they recommended drinking Green Tea. My husband already drinks it, but it never appealed to me. I started drinking it today, but I made my cuppa with a normal tea bag & a green tea bag, adding my milk & one sugar as usual.

On the other site they were also talking about "preseed". When I asked them what they were talking about they said it was a lubricant for if you are abit dry down there. Have you heard of this? I put "free sample preseed lubricant" into the search engine & it came up with a site. I applied for a free sample but the site is rather old (last post on it 2004), so not sure if I will get it. They said only use it if your dry, as if you use it & your not dry it may have the opposite effects. I may try it reguardless if I get my free sample.

I used to smoke but I gave it up when I fell pregnant the first time. My hubby does smoke but only about 3 a day but he was smoking more than the last 2 times we concieved. He is waiting to see if he can get patches free off the Doc.

If & when I do fall pregnant I usually have extra scan for a few reasons:
In my first pregnancy I bled for a month from week 13.
Family History: I had a younger sister who was born with her vocal cords paralised. She had a trachomtry tube in her neck to help her breath. She had a operation at Great Ormand St Hospital, London, just before she turned 2. They made a skin graft to hold her vocal cords in place. The operation was a sucess but once back home, something must of gone wrong with the skin graft as she could not breath & she died. I worry each time that this may happen with any baby I have as not sure if it herity.

I was only 4 when this happened, even though I can`t remember much. My parents keep warning me not to have kids incase it happens as my sister needed alot of care. I have 2 healthy girls so far so I wil deal with it the best I can if it ever happens.

My youngest was born with Congenital Talipes (club foot) of her right foot. She has had one operation & plasters up her whole leg when she was little. Now she wears special shoes on a night time with a bar set at an angel. To look at her now you would never guess she was born with this. It is better she was born with this than the problems my sister had, as it has been easily corrected. My brother also was born with this condition but they did things differently to how they do now.

Hope you don`t mind me telling you all that.

My sister in law said she has been feeling sick (i will have to give her some Goji beries). She did not feel sick in last preg.

I know this is not a baby related question but you don`t happen to know anywhere I can book hotels in London at reasonable prices, which are decent enough for kids to stay?
Just I have been searching web for hotels in London & train fares to get there.
We are booked to go to Disneyland Paris in May. We are travelling from Waterloo London on the Eurostar. I did not want to fly incase on the off chance I was preg, then I can still go either way.
The Eurostar leaves Waterloo 9:30 am so need to be there day beforehand.

Just found some info for a man`s diet when trying to concieve:

"Eat plenty of foods rich in vitamin c, which reduces the risk of damaged sperm. A 250ml glass of orange jucie contains 124 milligrams (mg) of vit c. Aim for at least 60mg daily, at least 100mg if you smoke.

Get more zinc in diet, at least 12-15mg a day. Several studies show that even short term zinc deficienties can reduce semen volume & testosterone levels. Great sources include extra lean mince beef ( a 85g serving has 4.5mg), baked beans (a 170g serving has 3.55mg), & dark chicken meat (2.38mg per 85g).

Increase your intake of calcium & vitamin D. Infertility researchers suggest that consuming 1,000 mg of calcium & 10 micrograms of vit d may improve men`s fertility. Good sourses of calcium low fat milk (250ml glass has 414mg) & yoghurt (1 pot has 303mg). You`ll find vit d in milk (250ml glass has 2mcg) & salmon (85g serving has 8mcg).

I got my free info pack on pregnancy & pre-conception today, it recommends more vitamins.

My friend who is 36 weeks pregnant phoned me tonight as she getting cramp. She wanted to know if it was contractions, I don`t think it is as they would be coming & going not constant like she said. Told her to ring her midwife if still unsure.

Hi Jane,

For some reason I have not been recieving my thread notification, so I did not know you had replied. I actually thought you had not been on this site for a while.

We went for a meal last night where my hubby works as he gets 50% off. We only bought cards for each other as saving for our hol.

Found a hotel, the London Eye is litrally at the front door of the Hotel. It is that grey building you see behind the London Eye & Waterloo is a few streets walk away.

I bought quite a few vitamins but I haven`t really taken them everyday as it is getting abit Over The Top. I am abit uncertain about taking them. I don`t know if they will actually do any good. Some of the ones we have are quite big & I could feel it for ages inside of me, it took that long to properly go down. What vitamins exactly are you taking?

We have agreed to try the sex every day this month to see if that helps. We have managed once a day since the 10th. We have found it easier if we do it one morning but then next time do it the following night. When we first started trying for a baby I got told by my hubby I was just using him as a sex object. I hope he does not feel like this, this month. Sometimes I can`t be bothered as I am too tired, but we both agreed to give it a go.

Netto are selling a twin pack of Predictor Pregnancy tests for about £3-50. My hubby bought me some. Well he tried to but when we got home we noticed they had not been scanned.

You could book to go to Paris via Eurostar for a romantic break,as if your pregnant you can still go as not flying. If your not preg then you may concieve there.

Hi claire,

Sorry i havnt been on for a while, i turned 30 on friday, i'v been feeling sorry for my self, i went to see a fortune teller about 10 yrs ago and she said i was going to have 2 children b4 the age of thirty, how wrong was she!!! Me and my hubby have decided not to concentrate on the baby making anymore, i think its putting a strain on our relationship, going to put it to the back of our heads and see wot happens, i know that it wont work but im sick of the dissapointment every month, i was taking folic acid, vitamin c, garlic vits, evening primrose and iron vitamins i stopped taking them all on friday...apart from the folic, let nature take its course...as people keep telling me.
we didnt do anything for valentines neither just cards, we were supposed to go away for the weekend but he had work comitments so we couldnt, he took me for a nice meal on friday for my birthday, which was nice.

Glad u have found a hotel, we are going to book up for cyprus soon, and if the inevitable happens then we will just have to deal with it when it does, im not putting my life on hold anymore.

sex everyday!! hope it works for you chick, it cant hurt, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you. It is hard not trying to treat each other like sex objects, i had all that with my hubby, i just tryed to make it romantic and i even dressed up for him, bought sexy underwear, lit candles and things like that, so u could try a few things to make him feel special and not a baby making machine.

Thats a really gud deal in netto, my hubby wouldnt buy them for me he would be to embarrased he wont even get my tampax, so gud on ur hubby. they sell them for 99p in savers there only the stick ones but they still work.

Its my 2wk wait b4 my period now and already my boobs are really sore, but they are every month so im not even going to think about it. sorry i'v been a bit grumpy today, im just very p***** off at the min.

Hows ur friend and sis-in-law doing?

Hi Jane,

I am still not getting message notifications that you have wrote something here. I am only getting them when I come on this site to check.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had a good day.

I will be 30 in 7 months & 3 years.

My friend had 2 daughters but 1 died. She wanted another baby after this but she had ovary cysts & was told she could not have anymore children. After 7 years we were suprised to find out she was pregnant, she had a boy in 2002 & another boy in 2004. Have hope, as my friend was told she could have no more, but she has had 2 more.

I think fortune tellers tell people what they think theyn want to hear. I would not listen to what they say, it is a load of s**t.

Try not to let things get you down (easier said than done I know). But I am hear if you want a moan. I may not know what to say, but my internet ears are here to listen.

Savers closed down on fri, everything went 90% off. Twin pack preg test which were £6-49 were 64p. It is opening next week as a Superdrug.

Sex everyday has been ok. Done it everyday from the 10th, apart from 2 days when my hubby said he could not be bothered. I can`t be bothered most days as tired, but I can`t help it. I think I will be more disappointed this month if I come on my period, since we tried so much. I think I due on about a week after you.

Sis-in-law just had 1st midwife visit, still feels sick. Friend said baby head going down. Friend knows sex of baby but has not told anyone, I would find it to hard to keep it a secret. One of her other friends is being so petty, she wants a baby herself & is not speaking to her as she won`t tell her the baby sex.

I only taking folic acid now but hubby still taking everything as he says it a waste of money if don`t. He keeps telling me to take them since he is.
