lh ovulation strips - Trying for a baby

Hi

Im chrissy 28yr married since 9th Sept 2006 and me and my hubby nick have just started ttc this month after 6 months off the pill and a clear rubella test. I started my last period on tue 8th may slight cramps and very light bleeding, didnt properly start til thurs 10th may. Have bought the lh urine ovulation strips and have tested for the past few days with negative results,should i take the tues or thurs as first day as test strips say should show a positive at cycle day 10/11?

Also are these strips usually accurate?

hi chrissy, i found the ovulation strips very accurate, but i only used to start testing from about day 8/9 otherwise it was just a waste, how long is your cycle? if you are a 28/30 days then usually ovulation is about day 12/14. if your cycle is a bit longer you may not ovulate until day 15/16, hope i'm making sense for you!! LOL 'fraid my brain goes to mush when i'm preggers!!! good luck and dont forget to still have fun trying!!! xx

Hi Chrissy

I used the ov sticks for the first time this cycle. Don't worry about not having a positive result yet. Many women donot ovulate untill day 16 or later in their cycle. OV tests only give you a positive result 12-36 hrs before ovulation. Have you had any sort of line in the positive area yet? I had faint lines about three days before positive result. You can always join us on the still trying 2 thread, there are lots of lovely ladies there who will be able to offer you support and advice. Keep trying and good luck!

Karen & Polly thank for your replies they do make sense, no sort of positive yet, havent had any other signs of ovulating yet either, will wait til i get some indication from my body that i am am and then test- getting stressed over it already and we have only just started ttc,I will join you all on the ttc thread,

Hi Chrissy
I used an ovatel from ebay (18.95) to test my ovulation days as i was using it for contraception LOL...it didnt wrok for me!
If i had been using it to get pregnant it would have been great. You dont need any strips or anything as it works off your saliva and you look for signs of ferning inthe magnifying glass bit. It isa one off cost andyou can uese it everyday. i found that some months i ovulated 6 days after my period and some months it was 21 days. then i could go anything between 10 and 22 days before my period began. I do have irregular periods at times so maybe this is why I got caught. Still it all happens for a reason and we are thrilled now!

thats great, think i may invest in one of those. I am trying not to get too hopeful of getting pregnant straight away and keep telling myself it wont happen for a while, but its so difficult and im a very impatient person at the best of times. I just need to relax and enjoy it.

Hi everyone, I have just done todays lh strip and it has a faint second line, does this mean i may be ovulating soon, i know it says on the pack its still a negative, but seen a few posts on here where people have seen the line start faint and getting darker for a few days before the lh surge? Iv also noticed tonight im having some cramps similar to mild period pain, could this be a sign of me going to ovulate at all.

Yes it could well be. This is going to sound mingigng but do you have clear discharge that is quite stringy? The stringyer the better!
If so then bonk like mad over the next three-four days but enjoy it.
Make sure you have a mind blowing orgasm just after he does...even if you get the rabbit out as it helps catapult the sperm up there! Get your hips on a pillow after sex for about ten mins or so and hope for the best. I sometimes get a strong pain in one side when I ovulate but lost of people get mild cramp or nothing at all.

I do have the clear mucus yes, just a little but have had it in past months lots of it so will keep my eye on it - oh yes we are definately enjoying it, its like a second honeymoon and im making sure i lie ther with hips raised for a good 20 mins after, fingers crossed,we shall wait and see...will let you know, period due around 6-8 june.

Hi Chrissy.
Thts great. The mucus will stay for around three to four days. Keep going through that whole time as the last day of the mucus is the day you actually ovulate. Some months it will be really wet and slippery...this isthe most fertile time! Go Girl!!!! Keep us informed xx

Hope you are ok. Just thought I'd say hello as you seem to be at exactly the same stage as me! My name is Sarah & I'm 28 too. I got married in April 2005. My husband & I started trying for our first baby last week - my last period started on Sunday 13th May when we were on holiday so had lots of sex last week but both are fairly shattered since we got home good old jet lag so was non existant from Saturday until today. Anyway I have just done a clearblue ovulation test this morning & it showing a surge woo-hoo! So I guess we have now officially started trying whilst technically fertile. Its all a bit strange as have spent so long trying not to get preggers (have been with husband for 10 years) now I am desperate to & am so excited I keep trying to tell myself its unlikely to happen straight away but most of me really really hopes it does! I am so so so excited its great to have found this site as I cant really explain to any of my friends what its like as none of them have gone down the baby road yet. Propping my bum up with a pillow afterwards is certainly a bit novel! My next period is due on the 9th June. I am very regular usually so I guess I'll know then. I'm at our best friends wedding that night so I'll either be partying & not drinking or drowning my sorrows! Anyway, happy trying - lots of luck to you & your husband.... Sarah, how spooky, we are at the same stage and im also at a friends wedding the night i think im due on my period! So i will be exactly the same as havent touched a drop of wine since my last period....My hubby is finding the propping my bum on a pillow after and staying still as long after as i can quite amusing. He is a typical man who thinks we should take our time and not pressure ourselves, but now we've decided i want to be pregnant asap and willing to try all of the tricks i can. i have just got pregnant after using the ovulation sticks i only used them once and only had sex once ,i ovulated 20 days after my period i had been trying for a year and half so they definatley worked for me goodluck hun jannette xxx

Just thought I'd update you ( posted earlier on this thread) Well after using the ovulation sticks for one cycle am now 5 weeks pregnant! So they do work!!!

well my period arrived on 2 june - so am now trying again - on cd day 14 not got a positive yet although had pains in abdomen since late last night and now lots of mucus so hopefully soon get a positive...Hope you all are doing well and good luck to those still ttc...

i just been reading through the thread and just wanted to say that next cycle i am going to start using ovulation strips. my partner and i have been trying for nearly 18 months and am hoping this will help.
my af is due on monday and i know it will arrive this month as havent been doing much bms.
Sounds like the ovulation strips are really good and hoping they work for me....and all the other ladies ttc

hi all - just a quick question am on cd 14 now and no positive from ovulation test yet but have had the - sorry if tmi cloudy mucus for a couple of days, which from this morning has gone to the clear sticky mucus - is this a sign i will ovulate soon?

Chrissy get bonking!!! I had this and never did get a positive ovulation but still got caught. I would say that with all my pregnancies i have got caught on months when i have had pain in my side and lts of mucus!
