Hi all im planning on having a baby very soon, but i have ibs just wondering if anyone else here has it and does it get worse during pregnacy. i havent asked my doc yet or researched it on the web but just wondering if anyone on here could help me.
yes i suffered with IBS before i was pregnant, but when i found out i was pregnant my Ibs seemed to have got better.
Thanx rachel hope mine does too
I have IBS and have had for about 13 years.
I found with babies 1 & 3 i got better but with baby number 2 it was so much worse. I took entric coated pepermint and acidophilis from Holland and Barret and it helped me loads. I also drank a cup of boiled (then cooled slightly obviously!) water before and after every meal to help my bowel move the food along and that helped too. Regular massage t othe tum by you or your partner is great and if you can find a relexologist who has experience of IBS in pregnancy that it even better. Try and start this before conception if possible and keep it up throughout the pregnancy. Once a week is recommeneded but unless you can get it in a local college (very cheep) then once a month is still helpful and more when you feel you need it. It can also improve the rest of your health during pregnancy and can prepare your body for birth, making it easier and quicker!
I hope your fine and best of luck xxx
I have had awful IBS for EVER and i believe that IBS goes to sleep when your pregnant thankfully. Mine went when i was PG with both my sons, i was still constipated at the start of the second PG but no tummy cramps at all, and constpation is something alot of pregnant women get anyway with all the new hormonesl!!
I also have got friends who also have IBS and they lost there symptoms of IBS during pregnancy to!
All the best hun xxx
