Hi all,

I haven't posted under this name for a while, but I have been reading regularly and congratulations to all who've already got their babies.

I just wanted to add myself to that list. Mathilda was born last Sunday 23.5 hours after my waters broke. She was a good 7.5 lbs and has since put on 3/4 of a pound. She doesn't stop eating.

Birth was good in the end, after a long labour she came out in about 4 pushes and I had no tears this time. Also got to sleep soon after the birth for nearly six hours, so I feel so much better this time around. So far sleeping in 2 to 3-hour chunks at night, usually 3, so it's manageable. Florian seems very happy with his little sister so far.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Maria

Wow Alex, she wakes and is perfectly happy for that long a time? fantastic! If she's not unhappy then I would say you have absolutely nothing to worry about and it probably is just a phase. It sounds like she is just taking some time to process all the things she's been doing during the day and enjoying her new knowledge. I'd ask if there's been any change of routine in the last couple of months (eg. starting nursery or childminders) but even if there has it clearly hasn't unsettled her.

If you could bottle her sleep habits I'm sure ThinkBaby mums would be queuing up to get there hands on it!

Hi everyone, great to hear the scans are all going well so far. We had our 20-week scan today too and it was really good. The doctor was a bit funny with Flori and asked me to tell him to be quiet even though he wasn't talking at all and the only noise was from him holding a little car. Then later when he did start asking questions and I explained to him that I needed him to be quiet the doctor then said, "you won't get much out of the scan if you're talking to your son"!!? He must have been having a bad day.

That aside, the scan was great and we found out that we're expecting a little girl this time. Florian is really excited as he's recently been telling me that he wanted a little sister. Haven't seen hubby yet, but on the phone he was overjoyed - I know he was hoping for a girl this time too. I didn't care what gender the baby was, but it was a bit odd to find out she was a girl, I thought "oh, so we can make one of those too?" lol.

Hi aall, I haven't posted for weeks, but I have kept up with what you've all written.

Taz - Sorry to hear that you're still sick. If it's any help to know, I was sick with my first until over 16 weeks and I lost a kilo and a half in that time. My diet until then was quite similar to yours I think, although I could drink lemonade or ginger beer then I really needed an energy kick. Everything turned out fine in the end though, and I put weight on normally after that and also the sickness just suddenly stopped.  Have you tried all the tips for coping with morning sickness here on Thinkbaby?

Maria - Good luck with the move, I have so much respect for you being able to cope with everything as you are doing right now.

Nia / Lou - You can also use just any plan natural oil on your belly, olive oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba etc. They are far less likely to irritate you than anything with mineral oil in or any perfumed products. I have had a lot of itching in theis pregnancy and am using a home-made cocoa, shea, mango and jojoba body butter which has been helping a lot, although I'm using it twice a day to keep on top of the itching.

Glad to hear that most people are beginning to feel a bit better going into the second trimester.

I had a scan at the end of last week and everything looks good. Baby is very active and I can feel him/her quite a bit now. Whenever I say 'oo' and put my hand to my stomach my son says 'baby moving'.  Need to get an appointment for the 20-week scan now, as am already 16 plus 3! Time is flying.

I find the wambamboo nappies fabulous for night, but they do need boosting. I use bamboo and hemp  boosters and we never have a leak, which I can't say is true of all the disposables we've tried.
