Congratualtions Bianca! Wonderful news and gorgeous name!

I was due on Wed 23rd March, started having 'strange' uncomfortable period-like pains and subtle lower back pain last Saturday night and just put it down to early signs - which I'm told can last up to a week, so just ignored it. Woke up Sunday afternoon feeling the same so used a hot water bottle all day, as the 'period-like' pains were still quite uncomfortable...as the day went by my boyfriend and I were just having a relaxing Sunday watching tv...come 11pm on Sunday night i found myself having to concentrate and almost breathe through the uncomfortable feelings.

They got stronger and i thought they were just Braxton Hicks as I'd had no show...I figured it probably wasn't actual labour yet, i decided to relax in the bath for a bit but couldn't get comfy.....they got STRONGER...come midnight we decided to start timing these 'pains' and by 1am they appeared to be 4 minutes apart and approx 30-45 sec long so i called the hospital and they said to come in just to check me out. Hooked me up to the machine to monitor the baby's heart beat and me...the midwife done an examination "ah yes dear...we're almost 3cm dialated, you may aswell stay in!" YAOWZERS!

6am I was on gas and air after trying to just breathe through the contractions, followed by diamorphine at 8am which lasted until midday when it wore off, so the rest of the labour i used gas and air and delivered a baby boy at 14:01 Monday (21st) afternoon, weighing 7lb 1oz!!

Baby had no name for two days til we finally decided on Benjamin  What an experience labour was!!...He's absolutley gorgeous, we're totally smitten with him!

Hang in there ladies-in-waiting (and enjoy your sleep NOW!) ....I look forward to hearing about your arrivals!!

Much love to you all!

Still no news of anymore arrivals yet?!....aww

I've got 3 days til my due date, started having discomfort, like period pains last night and lower back ache which I'm told are signs of very early labour but can last up to a week!! Gutted! ...still having the discomfort this afternoon and everytime I go to the bathroom, I'm hoping to find a show - but no.

Due dates suck!...they should give you an approx 'time zone', like "anytime near the end of March through to early April".

Ah well....i look forward to hearing about your impending arrivals! Good luck ladies!! I'm really excited for you all!

I'm due the 23rd and like the rest of you, i'm counting down the days...but not touching curries or any hot/spicy food at the request of the midwives I've met recently at the antenatal classes.

The bowl movements during labour are a high probability...I don't mean to be gross..but - can you imagine?!?!....think I'm gonna stick to walking to help get things going if I go over my due date

I haven't had any painful braxton hicks yet, just the normal hardening of the tummy every now and then and a bit more of it recently. I've been having some 'different' twinges so I think something's going on but don't think I'm anywhere close yet to meeting our baby...we're extremely excited though!!

I REALLY don't want to be TOO late after my date, but Laura, you're right...he/she will make their appearance when good & ready...just gotta fill my diary with things to do and people to see...I'm sure if i have to cancel to have a baby n one will really mind!!

Congratulations Claire!! - Well done managing with no pain relief, i too don't really have a birthing plan as i have no idea what to expect, so I'm open to ANYTHING really!

Hang in there Lolly!...it won't be long now!

I'm 38wks tmrw but quite ready to go into labour now if the wee bundle fancies making an appearance anytime soon!!...MUCH less anxious after all the antenatal classes

It's so exciting reading about everyones progress - look how far we've come!! It's almost baby time!! x x x

Hi ladies!

It's so exciting reading some of your posts - many of you are due SO soon!!

We've got the midwife this afternoon, I'm 35+1 now...I've started feeling a bit of groin pressure too. The antenatal classes have been helpful and been reading up loads on the actual labour process which makes it a bit less scary i think...knowlege is power and all that! Of course it's gonna be painful and hard work but it's worth it in the end, i hear - PLUS - LOTS of women do it more than once...so...it must be do-able, right!? Well...that's what I'm telling myself to get through! No going back now!

Can't wait to finish work on Saturday!!...then it's only 4weeks + 4 days (approx) til baby time! The 'nursery' is kinda done, just need to finish packing my hospital bag..I'm not as organised as some of you!

Anyway...good luck ladies!! Can't wait to hear about the new arrivals!!...you'll be fabulous! x x x
