Maclaren Owen Buggy 2007
Maclaren have launched a new buggy which takes the basic design of their fleet and adds a few sleek, super-comfy extras to create The Owen buggy, in commemoration of their creator, Owen Maclaren.

The Owen buggy retails at £185 and has all the attributes that make any Maclaren so easy to use: one-hand umbrella folding mechanism, lockable front-swivel wheels, ergonomic handles and a great light weight, to name but a few. But it also comes with a coordinated footmuff, and has the more solid on-the-road performance that the Maclaren Ryder series has become associated with.

Owen Maclaren originally designed the buggy in 1965, after the birth of his granddaughter made him realise how heavy and cumbersome prams and pushchairs were. He used his training as an aeronautical engineer (and his knowledge of the undercarriage of a Spitfire plane!) to create the first-ever pushchair that folded sideways in a compact, easy to carry package. Today is it hard to image life without the 'umbrella fold' buggy.

Owen buggy features
The Maclaren staple features include five-point harness, removeable/washable seat, carry handle when folded, extendable leg rest, storage pocket on back of hood, raincover, basket and hood included in price, and one-hand umbrella fold.
The Owen also comes with a coordinating fleece and tartan footmuff included in the price, and has a UV-treated viewing window on the hood. It has four seat recline positions and is suitable from three months.
The handle height is 106cm and the width of the buggy when open is 49cm. The basic weight is 6.7kg. When folded, it is 104cm in length. The Owen comes exclusively in green and blue tartan.
