May 13 to 19 2007 is this year's week when the Department of Health focus their energies on their year-round campaign to get more new mothers to try breastfeeding.
Why breastfeed?
The numbers of women in the UK who never try, or who give up on breastfeeding after a few days, is staggering. Yet breastfeeding is the best option for mother and baby. For mum, because it naturally triggers a good healing process within your body after the birth and burns calories like nobody's business! For your baby, because the unique, naturally-produced combination of nutrients gives him the best food for growth, development and health.
Of course, for many different reasons, not all women can breasteed, but it is such an amazing bonding experience that this week we have decided to mark NBAW by bringing together some key articles and product stories to help you feel you can make a more informed decision about breastfeeding, or simply to give a boost to your current experience if you are already feeding your baby.

There are many articles on ThinkBaby all about breastfeeding and baby feeding in general. A good place to start is our Breastfeeding Central feature, which links to other articles, advice, shared experience with other members, and members' reviews of related products.
