There are some amazing feeding chairs on the market now, though many still don't quite meet all the demands of a messy mealtime with babies and children. For more about the kinds of features you can expect from a good feeding chair, check out our Buyer's Guide to Feeding Chairs.
Because this item has to fit into your general home lifestyle - rather than the mountains of pink and blue plastic toys which can be banished to the nursery (if you happen to keep a tidier house than I do) - the feeding chair has become a thing of beauty in the eye of many manufacturers. And the brand new K2 Küster High Chair, another step on from already-popular Küster chair, is no exception.
The K2 Küster High Chair
With an RRP of £95, it might not be the cheapest high chair around, but it's much cheaper than most of the designer models currently on the market (usually for around £150).
Ergonomically designed, the K2 is far more simple to use than its sophisticated look suggests. It's easy to clean, it's tray can be adjusted or removed completely (for cleaning and when you are using the chair pulled up to a normal dining table), and the folding mechanism is easy to use. The tray is dishwasher safe, and the cushions and harness are also washable. The cushions are green and stripy, and the dimensions of the chair are: 70x56x95.5cm or folded 18x56x110cm.
As with all standard feeding chairs, the baby is securely seated using a five-point safety harness. The K2 also has a useful basket - when you want to keep something to hand but your hands are busy holding a bowl of food and a spoon - and the base of the chair is formed by self-levelling feet.
Because the chair can be adjusted as your child grows, you can use it well beyond the weaning period. Indeed, it is suitable for use from six months to about six years.
