The Ziko Herbie aims to carry your baby from birth to toddlerhood without changing chassis; this is achieved by attaching a carrycot insert to the aluminium frame for the first six months, then swapping this for the pushchair insert. Swapping between the two is probably the most complicated thing about this pushchair, but you only need to do it once, so it's no big deal. In either mode, your baby can face either way. It's available in Birdyplay, Dollymixture, Just Black and Patternella colourways, all of which are chic yet vibrant.
In action
Once you've selected which mode you're in, this is a breeze to use: easy to fold and a pleasure to steer. The padded handle is height-adjustable, so no problem if your partner is significantly taller (or shorter) than you, With air tyres at the back (the pump is supplied) and all-round suspension, it's sure to be a smooth, comfortable ride for your baby too. Swapping from forward to rear facing is also a simple operation. The capacious basket will help haul your goodies back from the shops.
Benefits
As this really is a complete system, this is the only buggy you'll need. If you want a travel system, just add the Pro Sleep car seat, which has an innovative lie-flat feature for use when your baby's not in the car. Can be folded with the carrycot or seat unit in place, and locks shut when folded. The footmuff is one of the cosiest around.
Drawbacks
Assembling this is a bit fiddly, but not difficult, and it's not the most compact of buggies. At nearly £500, it's definitely not the cheapest (but it is good quality and great looking). The biggest letdown, however, was the changing bag, which looks out of place next to such a stylish buggy - as there are so many better ones around, it seems slightly pointless including it.
