Once your baby has grown out of his crib (anytime between about 12 and 16 weeks in most cases), you have to decide what kind of cot suits your needs. You'll find lots of useful tips in our Buyer's Guide to Cots and if you look around you'll find all kinds of styles and special features that might appeal.
Whether you are looking for a small or narrow-ish cot to keep baby in your bedroom for longer, or a large cot for your growing infant, or even a cot that can convert into a child's bed in the coming years, Mamas & Papas' latest range is sure to have something you'd like...

Aiken Cot, £300
Coastline Cot Bed, £225
The country look or something for urban living
Within each range, M&P can always be relied upon to come up with absolutely gorgeous bedding, chests fo drawers, shelves and even curtain ties to match the look. However, you can either mix and match the styles or just pick one item to set off your existing nursery room style.

The Summerhouse collection features a classy traditional look in cool white. The cot in this range is £340 and can be converted into a day bed (where one side comes off so it can be used for naps or even as a nursery room sofa for quite time). As your child grows, it then turns into a child-size bed with both sides removed and one end dropped down as a footboard. Its curved ends (headboard and what becomes the footboard) make this as lovely shaped bed that looks soft and inviting in the baby's bedroom.

In the Ocean range, light (Golden Oak) or dark (Dark Oak) natural wood finishes suit contemporary and traditional home styles. We love the way this turns into a gorgeous day bed that would look stylish as a small sofa in your living room when your baby's too big to sleep in it!
This model, £595, also comes with a neat drawer underneath, perfect to storing bedding or bedtime stories.

Coastline is a lighter style, slightly more modern looking and more square, but easy on the eye and a good option if your bedroom space is limited. In this range, the cot/bed is £225 and the cot can easily be turned into a child's bed.

The Longhouse range is a medium-dark natural wood look with a classic appeal. It looks fabulous with cream accessories if that suits your interiors style, and the cot converts to a bed when your child grows a little. It retails at £295.

For something more adventurous but still smart, both the Aiken and Arden cots offer great options. The Aiken has curved ends and slats all the way around (rather than solid wood head- and food- boards) making it feel spacious and airy, for £300.
The Arden cot/bed is £200 and can be converted into a child's bed. Although it has a solid wood headboard, the other three sides are slatted so it still feels open and airy.

Whether you want something stylish but functional at the lower end of the price range (comparing well with other main cot retailers) or you want to treat yourself and your baby to the Ocean cot, it's great to know that the ranges all come with co-ordinating nursery ranges like wardrobes and toy chests.
