Review: Presto Stroller

Bruin Presto Stroller

A handy, solid from-birth stroller that's easy to fold down in an umbrella-style
This is flexible and useable from birth, but some parents might find it not quite as comfy for a newborn, but more suitable from about three-months
Features: Suitable from birth; multiple recline positions including lay-flat; lockable front swivel wheels; includes: shopping basket, raincover (with storage bag that attaches to stroller), hood, harness pads; conforms to BS EN 1888
Price: £129.99
Weight: 7.8kg
Handle: 101cm
Dimensions: 103x38x28cm, folded

Bruin Presto Stroller
The concept
If you want the sporty look of a from-birth pushchair with a generous but light frame, but you don't have the funds to splash out on some of the £250-plus models on the market, the Bruin Presto range at Babies R Us is perfect for you.

In action
At £129.99, you won't get the all-out sporty suspension of some of models which cost three times as much, but the Presto is a sizeable pushchair and with a blanket or a snuggle, even a new baby can ride comfortably inside.
Another aspect of the Presto that we like, is that it has an umbrella-action fold, so although it's quite long when it's folded, it gives you a fairly compact buggy to carry or store away. This compares very well with many bulkier from-birth models.
Although the handle height is not adjustable, it has soft, ergonomic foam grip handles and an easy access basket underneath.
For £129.99, you're not going to get features like switchable rear-and-front facing settings for the seat. (This is front-facing from birth.) However, many parents who are already on their second from-birth pushchair (that is, they already have an infant carrier car seat from a previous baby and are just looking for something substancial but not too flashy for their latest new baby) will find the simplicity and the price tag appealing.

Colours and accessories
A raincover (and its storage bag) comes as standard with the pushchair, as do the hood and harness pads.
Other accessories at Babies R Us, like the UberSnug footmuff (online price £39.99) are suitable for use with this stroller.
The Presto is available in all-red and all-black. And (new in April 2008) is now also available in rich turquoise and in raspberry.

The ThinkBaby verdict

A light, easy-fold and down-to-earth option that's suitable from birth
Portability/storage: 4/5
Usability: 4/5
Comfort: 3/5
Quality: 3/5
Value: 4/5
