The concept:
If you're looking for a buggy that's a little bit different but won't break the bank, then you should definitely consider the Micralite. It's sleek, aerodynamic design, no-nonsense foldaway system and the fact that it's one of the lightest buggies on the market, have meant that it has gained a popular following over the past year or so.

In action:
The big selling point of this buggy is its one-handed foldaway system, which means that in theory you can pull it shut and pack it in the boot of the car whilst carrying your baby. Another useful feature is that it stands upright so it's easy to store when you're not using it - though how many of us actually fold up the buggy when we get inside? If you're anything like me, you have so many blankets, bags and bottles in and around it that it's just not worth the effort!

The various workings of the buggy are fairly self-explanatory: there's a pull out, detachable hood that's got a 'window' so you can see junior while you're pushing him or her around; there are two seat positions, which you adjust with a handle at the back; and a headrest that's attached with Velcro so it can be removed. The two rear tyres are pneumatic and these can also be removed for storage whilst the front wheels can be fixed in place or left free moving, depending on the terrain.

Maneuverability:
The chunky rear tyres make it very easy to get up and down pavements and the buggy turns well, probably due to its weight and the fact that it's quite compact. The design of the single handlebar means you can steer one-handed if need be and it's easy to reverse the buggy and perform essential 360 degree turns in shops that weren't designed for strollers.

Benefits:
It really is very light compared to most buggies or strollers and this means that you can realistically take it travelling. It fits quite neatly into the boot of a car (I've got a Ford Focus and it's snug lengthways but leaves plenty of room behind). Plus, if space is tight, you can easily remove the two back wheels. Its compact design means it doesn't take up much room indoors and it does look pretty good, too!

Drawbacks:
The foldaway system is fantastic when it works, but unfortunately this is sometimes a little hit and miss and can be a bit fiddly to rectify. The shopping basket is very difficult to get to and you really need to kneel down and unclip it to get any bags in. The buggy can also be a little unstable: it tends to veer back with just a little excess pressure.

The ThinkBaby verdict

A stylish, no-fuss stroller that offers good value for money. It's a great option if you need to pack it in the car or if you use public transport.
