And you thought car seats were just for sitting in...
There are many well designed, super-safe car seats on the market but the whizz-bang Aprica Euro-Turn is the poshest one we've seen yet.
At a recommended retail price of £460, it's certainly not cheap, but for that you get a seat which allows your baby to sit upright or lay down flat. There is a belief that very young babies benefit from not sitting upright for extended periods of time so long journeys could be drastically improved by this.
The seat comes with this mission statement: "Aprica's extensive paediatric research has focused on learning how to nurture babies' growth, especially during the first three years of life and to achieve their optimum wellbeing and security. "
Looking like a Georgia O'Keefe flower, the linings and layers inside the seat enable you to change its size as your child grows, so it's suitable from birth to 4 years. It can be set as a front- or rear-facing seat as well as completely flat and has a swivel base to make changing positions easy.
It looks like a gadget from Star Wars and the version with an added Thermo Ventilation System is a snip at £660!
