Review: Everyday Eating for Babies and Children

Everyday Eating for Babies and Children by Judith Wills

Easy to read guide about feeding your family from weaning babies through to fussy toddler years and on to early school days.
No real downsides although suggestions for foods like strawberries before one year conflict with thinking in other books.
Features: Well broken-down chapters and meal planners as well as recipes and a guide to childhood nutrition.
Price: £12.99 RRP
Contact: Collins

We always pick up recipe books with the best intentions to make every meal and revolutionise our eating habits. However, Judith Wills alluringly simple -sounding recipes and the gorgeous photography might just help us all really do it this time!

Organisation
With an A to Z of child health, a page of useful contacts (for health, allergies, the Vegetarian Society etc) and an index which includes ingredients, recipes and subjects like food aversions, the back half of this book is a great reference tool.
The front half is divided up through the ages and stages from babies up to early shcool days. Each section opens with interesting editorial facts, figures and suggestions, then recipes and meal planners, which are well laid out. These include snappy tips for cooking meals to perfection, and for coaxing fussy eaters into trying new foods.

A good range
From popular options like muffins and fruity loaves to solid dinners like Beef and Carrot Casserole, the recipes offer a decent range of meals without getting too lost in fancy ingredients or techniques only Jamie Oliver's household could manage.

The ThinkBaby verdict

A wonderful book that'll help you deal with the ever-troublesome issue of mealtimes and hopefully nurture a healthy, happy eater in your child.
