One of our favourite new discoveries is the website of Funkidry - a company selling leisure products that are useful, often sun-safe, but also look far more fun than your average beach bag contents!
They do all kinds of things like UV-protective clothing and swimming goggles, but one of the instant hits in our household were the groovy hooded towels.
When your children are wet and sandy on the beach, it's not always easy to get them warm and dry quickly. Many companies make lovely poncho-style towels or other wraparounds for the beach, but Funkidry have taken this one step further, with colourful, themed towelling outfits that look more like something for a fancy dress party.
Girls will love the detailing of the green and blue mermaid robes, or the lilac fairy with decorative wings, whilst toddlers won't mind covering up and getting dry if they're in a yellow duck robe. There are also pirate themed ones, a purple wizard robe complete with towelling wizard's hat, a frog, pirate, shark and the one we love most: the dinosaur-coloured one with spikes down the back! Others have simple designs on the corners - rocket, tractor or football, for example.
The robes sell for about £24.50 direct from the website, but some are reduced by as much as half price. A great seasonal treat or birthday present with a difference.
They also do towelling robes for the beach with collars or in dress styles, in case you want your children to wear something less skimpy than a swimming costume or trunks, as they play in the sand.
