Last night BBC1 aired 'Choosing Children', the first of six episodes in Dr. Winston's latest series 'A Child Against All Odds'. Each episode follows the lives of couples who are undergoing fertility treatment and explains how science has given new hope to those who have experienced difficulty conceiving amongst other issues.
'Choosing Children' focussed on the stories of three couples - Gill and Ian, who lost a child to a rare genetic disease and want to avoid it happening again, Glenn and Andrea, who have four sons and want to use IVF to have a daughter and Sarah and Pete, who have a disabled four year-old daughter and want to use genetic screening to have a healthy second child.
The next episode, 'Ice Babies', will be shown on Tuesday 21st November at 9pm on BBC1.
