WHAT IS TENS?
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.
By placing adhesive electrode pads on your body, pulses are transmitted across the skin to reduce pain sensation. These units are a tried and tested way of treating pain. The soothing pulses are sent via the pads through the skin along the nerve fibres. These pulses block the pain signals being sent to your brain, and encourage your own body to produce higher levels of its own natural pain killing chemicals “endorphins”.
When experiencing another contraction, simply press the boost button for an extra surge of power needed to combat the pain. When a contraction passes, press the boost button again to restart the cycle. One of the most wonderful advantages of using the Elle TENS unit during labour is that you control it, and the unique design of the Elle TENS enables you to move around freely while utilising the unit to help relieve your labour pain.
