Baby showers are a growing trend amongst UK mums-to-be

The baby shower trend has made its way from America to the UK, with two thirds of British pregnant women planning to throw one before their nine months is up.

Using a baby shower as the perfect way to get lovely new gifts for their unborn baby, four in 10 of the 3,000 women polled admitted they hoped that their friends and family would treat them with gifts worth £150 or more!

Although the mums-to-be admitted to being spoilt with gift bundles of baby clothes, soft cuddly toys and nursery accessories to name a few, nine out of 10 revealed that they felt overwhelmed at their friends’ generosity – 71% were even lucky enough to receive gifts after the birth, too!

Many mums-to-be used the baby shower experience to share stories about giving birth, with 52% wanting to get tips off other mums, whereas 44% just wanted to share lots of cake with close friends!

“Despite baby showers having a reputation for being a bit cheesy, most friends and family members love sharing good news and talking about the life changing experience of having a baby,” said a spokesperson from Me To You, a gift card company, who led the poll, has said. “ The simple fact is that everyone loves buying for babies.”
