The weatherman says we're in for a scorching summer but you're sweltering in the heat with baby bump, wondering how on earth to dress your blossoming shape without melting.

Sound familiar? Look no further as we've collected the best expert styling tips for pregnant mums to help you keep cool in the summer, dress your bump with ease and most importantly maintain your good-looking style. Remember, you are still 'you' despite feeling your body may be trying to tell you otherwise.

So what's the secret? A few key tips, reveals Mamas & Papas Fashion Director Karen Tyler...

Tip 1: Natural fibres keep you cool

"No-one likes to feel sweaty and flustered in the sunshine, especially mums-to-be who are probably experiencing hot flushes galore due to your dilating blood vessels which is common during pregnancy," says Karen.

"That's why I would advise you to keep it cool with sleeveless designs in natural fibres. This will allow air to circulate around the body and around your bump. Opt for something that sits beneath your bust area and with a nice low scooped neckline.

"The best materials for this look is definitely 100% cotton - it's also a beautifully lightweight fabric and won't leave any unsightly sweat patches."

Tip 2: Choose your colours - even nude

"Colour is really important because it can instantly boost your mood, complexion and silhouette," advises Karen. "Light, breezy hue colours like crisp white or pastel shades of mint and candy shades can make you feel really summery and keep your look fresh and uncomplicated.

"There's also a massive trend in nude clothing - I would really encourage you to give this a go.  These colours will give you a sense of feminity, and especially as you’re pregnant, this is really important. These pastel colours can be incorporated into maternity styles with ease."

Tip 3: Make the most of your cleavage

"The most flattering area of your pregnant body is your cleavage!" beams Karen. "Accessorising is the key and a great way to accentuate this area, flatter your bump and most importantly, feel dressed up and special.

"At Mamas & Papas, we create pieces of jewellery to coordinate and compliment oure clothing line. Which is exactly what I would advise pregnant ladies to do as it makes a world of difference to your look - and confidence."

Tip 4: Go Maxi this summer

Karen is absolutely clear when it comes to this season's hot tip - the Maxi dress. "It's flattering to all shapes and can be dressed up or dressed down, can be worn to the beach with flip flops, or to a summer wedding.

"It’s also extremely versatile which is so important, especially when you're pregnant and your shape is constantly changing."
