Worried mums can get online peace of mind
NHS Direct has launched a new online symptom checker for mums-to-be. The pregnancy-specific symptoms checker supports a range of online home-diagnosis tools already available from the NHS.
The checker covers common pregnancy problems and concerns such as nausea, aches and pains and swollen feet. If your symptoms appear to be more serious, you can ask for a call back from a NHS direct nurse.
"Pregnancy can be a daunting time, especially for first-time mums," explains Tricia Hamilton, NHS Direct Chief Nurse. "The reasssurance of being able to seek professional, clinically-supported advice on the web is invaluable for mums-to-be. What is equally reasuring is that if the problem needs further attention, a nurse is only a click away."
