Not sure about painting things my baby will put in her mouth…

Sewing, painting and generally creating are the kind of thing you feel you should do when you’ve had a baby, in preparation for all that messy play when they got older, if nothing else! And if you like the thought of hand-crafting something especially for your baby (or even someone else’s if you’re feeling generous), this book is sure to inspire.

With 30 projects to choose from, there’s something for every ability – and you don’t need a sewing machine for all of them.
Try your hand at simple embroidery on a patchwork blanket, stencil a child’s chair or transform a babygrow into a customised beanie hat – you could even make a set of soft fabric blocks for your baby to play with.
At the end there are suggestions for packaging your gifts that are sure to impress.

Techniques are clearly explained and there are templates for you to photocopy (a great help if, like me, you can’t draw!), and you’ll find a list of stockists for those less obvious items.
The instructions for each project are easy to follow, with photographs to help you on your way, so everything feels achievable.

I can feel my inner domestic goddess making a rare appearance – all I need now is a baby small enough to fit the miniature Mary-Janes…
