Smart Real Nappies from Bum Genius
The issue of nappies is, for many new parents, simply a question of getting to grips with the gruesome task of changing them. But the great nappy debate of opting for cloth or disposable nappies is becoming an increasingly big issue for more people. Not only is there the ecological argument but also the chance in many areas of getting cash incentives from local councils to switch to reusable.

Real nappies made easy
One of the reasons why real nappies feel like a challenge too far for many parents is not so much the washing but the fact that they look so complicated to put together.
bumGenius nappies are relatively new on the reusables scene but have really taken off because they are so easy to use – pretty much like putting a disposable on a baby where you simply open it out, bring the front round under your baby's bottom and then secure the nappy at the sides with the resealable tabs. The also have a trim fit so they are less bulky for babies as they crawl, cruise and toddle
bumGenius One Size and All in One nappies are also made from quick-drying microfleece so they are easy to wash clean (most poo can just be dropped off into the toilet before you wash them) and they are soft on your baby's bottom. Microfleece is also antibacterial and stain resistent.
One of the other major problems with real nappies can be that parents get baffled about what layers they need to put together before the nappy goes onto their baby, and knowing which size will fit their child. Whilst real nappies can work out cheaper than disposables, if you get the sizes wrong or your child grows out of a size quickly, you might feel like you've wasted your money. With bumGenius nappies, there is the One Size range which suits babies of any age and which comes with a nighttime booster so that even heavier use can be comfortably catered for.
Having One Size nappies also means that parents with two children who are still in nappies don't have to sort nappies into the right sizes, they can simply grab a nappy for either and fit it accordingly.
The other ranges they produce all work in the same simple way. Their All in One nappy offers a great introduction to real nappies as its simple one piece design means you don't even have to refit the inner lining, it's all sorted for you. For parents interested in having natural fibres next to their baby's skin, the One Size also comes in an Organic version and there's also a Bamboo Pocket Fitted nappy option too.

Details
All of the bumGenius ranges come in rich colours, some suiting boys or girls, some unisex. You can buy nappies individually rather than having to buy a massive starter pack (as with some other brands) and prices start at £10.75 for the All-in-One nappy, which comes in various sizes from extra small to large (toddlers up to about 30lbs); the One Size range which fits all baby sizes and costs £14.75 per nappy. The Bamboo nappies cost £8.75 each and the Organic ones cost £15.50 each.
If you buy more in one go, the prize does come down, and there are matching accessories available.

I would be happy to try them, my daughter is 14 months and I have been having the real nappy debate with myself since she was born.

I'd love to try these on my boy, who weighs 9.5kg and is 9 months old. We've already tried other cloth nappies, including pockets nappies and prefolds with separate wraps, with no success and I've heard lots of good things about Bum Genius One Size nappies, so these should work for us! Also, my Mum refuses to use the prefolds and I'm sure she'd be able to get the hang of these ones very easily, as will my husband and the nursery he's going to go to in a couple of months. Here's hoping!

Not sure if you still require guinea pigs but I would be interested in giving them a go. My boy is 5 weeks old and weighs 11lbs already!! Have always used disposables with my first who is 3 next month but have felt very guilty about the quantity!

i used the first size inkushies for my twins but always used diposables at night so would be very interested to see if one size bum genius is absorbant enough with its night booster to go through til morning without the leaks!

I would love to try these for my one year old daughter. She is currently in a size 4 disposable and weighs about 22 pounds at the last count! She is quite skinny but long.

hiya

i would love to try these on my 15 month old daughter. i've been debating disposable and reusables for some time now, but still i'm not sure. difficult to try the reusables properly without buying a whole lot though which is why i've stuck with the disposables. my daughter has a super sensitive skin suffers frombad nappy rash on a regular basis. i have often wandered if its the disposables that are making therash worse. this trial would allow me to find that out

 thank you
