'NOT REALLY ANYTHING SPECIAL'
Strengths:
Nice blue baby light
Talk back (good for scaring toddlers into bed without going into the room)
Light display
If the baby unit turns of and alarm sounds, if the parent unit is switched off baby unit turns itself off
Weaknesses:
I get alot of interferance.
Monitor cuts in and out when it feels like it unless i use battries.
My light display sometimes doesn't work when my baby is crying
Overall:
I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone as we've had so many problems with it.

'EASY TO USE AND RELIABLE'
Strengths:
It didnt' have too many bells and whistles - it was just a way of us listening in to our son.
Weaknesses:
Only lasted for one baby - by the time number two came has along we are finding the monitor a bit burnt out. Though it did last two years with our first.
Overall:
I guess if you have a lot fo intereference it might be difficult to find a channel you can use but we didn't have any probs with that. And found the rmeote parent unit usefult o carry around.

'NOT GREAT AT ALL'
Strengths:
none
Weaknesses:
terrible reception and interference. sounds like a plane is taking off in his nursery sometimes. And then it switches itself off for no reason if the signal gets too bad (even though we are only in the next room)
Overall:
Overall, i wouldn't recommend these monitors for new parents (or for any parents for that matter), they are a complete waste of money, and for an extra £30 or so, you can get the video monitors that are extremely good and have fantastic pictures (i have a friend who has them). Steer clear of Tomy

'SOUND AND RELIABLE'
Strengths:
Really good range, and works reliably with and without the power lead. Various modes to allow for temperature control, as well (I think).
Weaknesses:
Sometimes get interference from outside (rumour has it the interference comes form thinkgs like taxi companies, but that's never been clear to me...)
Overall:
I'd recommend it - a good brand and a must-have product if your baby sleeps out of earshot.

'GOOD QUALITY MONITOR!'
Strengths:
Fantastic range, option of using batteries or mains.
Weaknesses:
Battery life isn't great and sometimes get interference if the monitors aren't set to the same channel.
Overall:
Tomy is a great brand and I think that may have been the reason why i got this but it has proved to be a really good monitor! you have the option of using batteries or the mains - I use the mains as the range is really good and as batteries tend to go so quickly. Would recommend this monitor - although its not the most expensive on the market it works just as well!
