| 'IDEAL CARSEAT-PUSHCHAIR COMBO FOR PLANE TRAVEL' | | Strengths: The only umbrella fold pushchair that fits a carseat so it conforms to airline rules going up to the gate - don't have to check it in with baggage. Easy to fold up and release one-handed. Car-seat is very good quality and lightweight. Comfortable handles, nice suspension, easy to push, not clunky. Great for young babies and even 5 year olds! | | Weaknesses: Depth of the pushchair seat is a little long for 1 year-old's legs so he slumps a bit if his legs hang down over the front of the seat. A bit wider than the Techno XT so a little more clumsy to 'drive' in crowded London shops. | | Overall: I travelled with my son from when he was 6months old around the world (London, Australia, New Zealand, USA). We are still using it now (age 13 months). Excellent for having a car seat when you land at the destination if being picked up at the airport by relatives who don't have a car seat. In Sydney not all taxis had them. Most airlines let me take the pushchair up to the gate because it's umbrella fold which was so much easier with bags and children! I used the carseat on the plane (Big tip: make sure you notify the airline before your flight and have an approval stamp on the boarding pass at check in - the check-in lady forgot to stamp it on one trip and the flight attendants couldn't let us use the carseat inflight even though it had been verbally approved at check-in). Carseat: nice and light, unlike the Mamas and Papas one I used to have. Lasted until 11 months for my tall baby who longed to face forwards like his brother. Pushchair: is strong and big enough for a tall 20kg 5 year old with jet-lag. Has all the features of Techno XT (which I love and also have) but more useful if you need a carseat. It's wider and deeper than XT so not so good in busy small London shops but fine for USA, Aus, NZ. The seat is a bit too deep for my 1 year-old, the XT is a better fit for him. I have the tan and red colour combo which is good in hot weather, and has kept clean even in wet weather. Overall, very similar to the excellent XT with carseat compatability. |
