Mother learns she's expecting another baby each time she goes for her ultrasound scan
Doctors discovered another baby each time this mum went for another scan
Chamille and Paul Thompson, 34, from Tyne and Wear, were so happy when they went along to their first ultrasound scan and spotted their baby on the screen.
But little did they know, that when they went for their second scan six weeks later there'd be a surprise waiting for them. Chamille was expecting twins.
As if that wasn't enough of a shock, on returning to the hospital for their three-month scan, the couple were stunned to be told that they were actually expecting triplets as a third baby had been hiding away all along.
Triplets Amelie, Lori and Sofia were born by caesarean on October 5, 2011, at 34 weeks and five days. Lori and Sofia weighed 5lb 4oz and Amelie was 5lb 1oz.
After spending 10 days in hospital to monitor their breathing and help them put on weight, the triplets are now at home and doing well.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Chamille said: "Paul and I had been trying for a while, so we were delighted to be expecting. Then when we discovered we were expecting twins, we thought, 'great', lots of people have twins and we'll have a ready-made family.
"But when the third scan came round and we were told I would be having triplets, we knew this would be a bit of a risk.
"The babies must have been hiding behind each other."
