Newborns get blood test for rare, serious illness

New babies will now get a blood test within two weeks of birth, for the rare but potentially fatal disease Medium Chain Acyl CoA Dehydrogenase (MCADD).
All newborn babies are to be given a new test in addition to the current round of checks performed at, or soon after birth. This simple test will seek to rule out a rare inherited condition called MCADD (Medium Chain Acyl CoA Dehydrogenase), which
