Water Births - Has anyone had a water birth?
Information of water births anyone?

HiIm thinking about having a water birth and was wondering whether it really does lessen the pain - the midwife explained that I may be able to have gas and air but not pethidine. It would be great to hear from anybody about their experiences

First Time Mom - Water Birth?

Your experiences with pain relief

" birth. I am very fortunate to have an extremely high pain threshold and manage to get through mainly with positive thinking and mind-over-matter-type thoughts. Laughter, believe it or not, helped a great deal. The gas + air made me feel a bit sick

is anyone completely frightened of the idea of birth??

hurry for me to have the epidural so I coped on just gas and air and I'm glad I did. As Karen suggests a water birth can help relax you, I really wanted one but someone else was in the pool so I spent a long time in the bath at the begining

How good are tens machines?

before the birth so in that respect it allowed me to stay at home longer that I think I could have without it. I ended up being 9cm dilated when I eventually went in and my son was born a couple of hrs later with some gas and air to help at the hospital

I would support this.I used a combination of hypnobirthing and a tens machine for my daughter - although I did resort to some gas and air for the last bit.I laboured so easily that I was on the ward right up to transition. It was only my insistance
