We travelled to Sweden to meet Bjorn and get a look at the latest carrier before it hits the shops
The Baby Bjorn new Miracle carrier is suitable right from newborn
When I announced that I'd been invited to Sweden to visit the headquarters of Baby Bjorn all my girlfriends said the same thing: "Well if you get any free samples please remember me." It seems everybody loves the baby carrier company. But can you believe it's been around for 50 years? Yes, that's right, Baby Bjorn is celebrating its half century this year and Think Baby was lucky enough to be invited along for the celebrations and to get a sneaky peek at the company's latest product before it hits the shops.
Touching down in the land of Abba and Dime bars, we raced straight to Baby Bjorn headquarters on the banks of a beautiful frozen lake to meet the charming Bjorn and his wife who've headed up the family company for 50 years. While supping the strongest coffee in the world (we reckon it's all that caffeine that keeps those Swedes so perky) they introduced us to their little miracle.
The Miracle is a godsend for parents who love their Baby Bjorn so much as it's a baby carrier that's suitable from birth right up to a weight of 12kg. How are you comfortably going to carry your tiny newborn in the same carrier as a toddler, I hear you ask? Well that's what we wondered too, but David Thalen, the Miracle project manager, explained how it grows with your baby thanks to an innovative size adjustment buckle (see our pictures below).
The entirely new design is easily adjusted for the perfect fit, transferring your baby's weight between your waist, hips and shoulders to move the pressure around as needed by you, the wearer. But we didn't just hear about how it works, we got to meet the testers and their babies who'd been putting the Miracle through it's paces for months. The it was off to enjoy a Swedish Smorgasbord with lots of herring and sing happy birthday to Bjorn and his company
